Dennis brings over 30 years as principal, financial executive and financial controller in several construction-related businesses to bear on the success of your business. He has taken multiple businesses from idea to start-up to production and growth in that time.
Dennis earned his Master's degree in Finance (MSF) soon after starting his first construction business, a pre-hung door and millwork facility in Central California. In 1994, Dennis sold that business and moved to Colorado, where he purchased a truss manufacturing plant. Once that operation had been enlarged to serve a broader market, Dennis began building custom and speculative residences in Southern Colorado, building more than eighty homes thus far. In the last few years, Dennis has combined his knowledge of manufacturing and home building to construct custom designed modular homes, and has been featured on the national D-I-Y Network in an episode focusing on the construction of one of his modular homes.
Dennis has been an instructor in Economics, Finance and Marketing in the business school of Fresno Pacific University in Fresno, California. He has also taught personal and business financial planning for the University of Southern California (USC) School of Continuing Education. Dennis was awarded his Certified Financial Planner (CFP) degree in 1980, and brings that consultative mindset to his small business financial training responsibilities. He was recognized by the Office of Economic Development of Merced County, California, for his hands-on work with small business start-ups in the Central Valley of that state.
Dennis has also served on the Board of Directors of a local bank and understands what it takes to assemble loan and financing presentations for lenders. The right information, presented in an appropriate package, significantly improves the likelihood of success.
Dennis says:
"Builder-Resources.com is a company which facilitates the transition from start-up to mid-level enterprise.
Our clients come to us when they realize they need better decision-making tools than they currently are getting from their financial data. We assist the client by helping them organize their back office operations so they make sense.
Our typical customer is with us from the time he or she starts the business through the time when they get sufficiently large to bring the controller position in-house. By that time the foundation on which the business can be built has been laid. The marketing and branding is in place, the financial reporting is providing useful information, the business processes are being established and documented."
Dennis was a four-time All-American and National Champion in Track and Field while in college. He has been married to Lynette since 1973, and enjoys the company of his three children, their spouses and four grandchildren.
